Your collection company/service provider will tell you how materials should be separated from the trash and what can be mixed together. Dual stream is becoming common practice, meaning you collect mixed paper in one bin and mixed containers in another. Some programs are single stream, so fiber and containers are mixed together. Keep in mind the amount of space you have for recycling.

You will also need to set up a contract with a collection service. The following resources contain example contracts, best management practices, request for proposals, and other documents.

State Request for Proposals and Contract Examples
Example contracts for recycling, cardboard and trash service that can serve as templates to help you when you are setting up service for programs within your organization.
